Blazing Their Trail | Jennifer Morrow | Phlebotomy
February 11, 2026
Jennifer Morrow is pursuing her phlebotomy certification at Northwood Tech’s New Richmond campus after returning to college following several life changes and challenges.
After high school, Morrow began her education at Northwood Tech by earning her EMT certification. She later returned to work on her college degree, but her studies were interrupted by military deployment and the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, she is back on campus exploring a return to the health care field.
“I went to Northwood Tech to get my EMT certification. Later on, I came back to work on my college degree, but I had to stop because I got deployed, and then COVID hit. Now I’m back again to get my Phlebotomy certification and to see if I want to leave the transportation industry and go back into healthcare.”
Morrow said proximity, affordability, and program availability played a key role in her decision to attend Northwood Tech.
“I chose Northwood Tech partly because it’s close to home. The cost was a big factor too, and they actually had the programs I was interested in, so it just made sense for me.”
As an adult learner, Morrow balances her education with personal and financial responsibilities.
“I’m older than pretty much everyone in my classes and trying to juggle my time and finances hasn’t been easy. Since my schooling got interrupted before by deployment and then COVID.”
Through perseverance and determination, Morrow continues blazing her trail toward a future in health care through the phlebotomy program at Northwood Tech.
