US Department of Education Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding (HEERF)

Student Aid

Northwood Tech signed and submitted to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement required by the department and intends to use no less than 50 percent of funds received through HEERF to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES)/HEERF I

  • Northwood Tech received $752,697.
  • As of December 3, 2020, Northwood Tech has expended all the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students received through the CARES Act.  Funds were disbursed during the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 semesters. 
  • The estimated total number of Northwood Tech students who were eligible to receive funds through the CARES Act is 2,390. 
  • As of December 3, 2020, 603 Northwood Tech students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant through the CARES Act.
  • To receive funds, students were required to complete an online application. Students were notified of the application by an email and text notification.  Students must have incurred expenses due to the disruption of campus operations caused by the pandemic, must not be enrolled in an online program, and meet federal title IV financial aid eligibility requirements.

Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA)/HEERF II

  • Northwood Tech received $752,697.
  • As of October 8, 2021, Northwood Tech has expended all the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students received through CRRSAA.  Funds were disbursed during the Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 semesters. 
  • The estimated total number of Northwood Tech students who were eligible to receive funds through the CRRSAA Act is 1,261   
  • As of October 8, 2021, 1,100 Northwood Tech students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant through the CRRSAA Act.
  • Eligibility
    • $700 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0, and who received a Pell Grant.
    • $650 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an EFC greater than $0, and who received a Pell grant.
    • $600 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time and with financial need greater than $1,000. 
    • $500 emergency grants were also available to all financial aid eligible students through Northwood Tech's normal emergency grant process.    

American Rescue Plan (ARP)/HEERF III

  • Northwood Tech will receive $3,172,017
  • As of March 25, 2022, Northwood Tech has expended $3,133,328 of the allocated funds. Funds were disbursed during the fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters. 
  • The estimated total number of Northwood Tech students who were eligible to receive funds through the CRRSAA Act is 1,589.
  • As of March 25, 2022, 1,448 Northwood Tech students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant through the CRRSAA Act.
  • Eligibility for Fall 2021
    • $1,500 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0, and who received a Pell Grant.
    • $1,400 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an EFC greater than $0, and who received a Pell grant.
    • $1,300 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time and with financial need greater than $1,000. 
    • $500 emergency grants are also available to all financial aid eligible students through Northwood Tech's normal emergency grant process.        
  • Eligibility for Spring 2022
    • $1,750 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0, and who received a Pell Grant.
    • $1,650 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time, with an EFC greater than $0, and who received a Pell grant.
    • $1,550 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time and with financial need greater than $0. 
    • $750 grants disbursed to students enrolled at least half time and with no financial need.
    • $750 emergency grants are also available to all financial aid eligible students through Northwood Tech's normal emergency grant process.
