  • Step 1: Apprenticeship Description
    • Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a nationally-recognized, portable credential. Employers can choose to register their programs with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to show prospective job seekers that their apprenticeship program meets national quality standards.

  • Step 3: Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program
    • TIRAP is an acronym for the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program. It is a common misconception that TIRAP is a stand-alone entity when in fact WIA is the National Sponsor and administrator of the program. A key stakeholder group is the TIRAP Advisory Board. These industry leaders provide support through insight into industry trends, occupational demand, subject matter expertise and facilitate communication to additional industry partners regarding the value of apprenticeship as a workforce development strategy. A Registered Apprenticeship program is a documented plan designed to move an apprentice from a low or no skill entry level position to full occupational proficiency. This systematic training approach provides consistency in training and competency across the industry, which in turn will improve safety, quality, and efficiency. Upon completion of the program, an apprentice earns a Completion of Registered Apprenticeship certificate, a nationally recognized credential.
