Biography
Jesse LaPorte started working with adult learners as a tutor while earning his bachelor’s degree at St. Cloud State University. He discovered that he greatly enjoyed working one-on-one with students and continued to teach college courses as a teaching assistant while earning his master’s degree. For Jesse, teaching became the most relaxing part of his day, so he knew he wanted to continue his journey as an instructor. After earning his master’s degree from Minnesota State University – Mankato, he started as an instructor for Trigonometry, Precalculus and Calculus at the university level.
Jesse’s teaching philosophy is centered on communication and applications. He emphasizes proper writing of mathematics to not only help students understand the logic behind the math, which aids in critical thinking, but to help students communicate more easily throughout their day-to-day lives.
In his spare time, Jesse and his wife enjoy doing much of what the Duluth and Superior have to offer: skiing, camping, biking and other outdoor activities.
