Biography
My nursing practice background includes five years of inpatient progressive care with a cardiac focus, and I continue to work at the bedside per diem. My educational background includes a Master of Science in Nursing Education degree from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.
I believe that learning for nursing students goes beyond memorizing medications or skill steps to acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values essential for safe, competent nursing practice. Teaching, therefore, is not the transmission of information but the intentional facilitation of growth within a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students' experiences, needs, and perspectives are valued. As a nursing instructor, I strive to foster self-directed learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving while learning alongside my students. Through thoughtful structure and open communication, I aim to prepare students to achieve competence, engage in complex clinical decision-making, and commit to lifelong learning within an ever-evolving profession.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and being outdoors in any capacity: running, fishing, kayaking, camping, hiking, or biking.
