Immunization and TB Requirements for EMS Programs

The following is a list of requirements needed for 30-531-3 Emergency Medical Technician, 30-531-6 Advanced EMT, 31-531-1 EMT-Paramedic, and 10-531-1 Paramedic Technician. Immunizations and negative status for TB should be completed by the first day of class. Students must submit an official record, such as Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR), or documentation from a clinic.
 

TB Testing Required:

  • 2-Step Mantoux (injections; 4 appointments) or
  • TB T-Spot (single blood draw) or
  • QUANTiferon Gold (single blood draw)

 

Immunizations Required for Optimal Clinical Placement:

  • MMR - Two vaccines or titer
  • Tetanus(Tdap) - proof of booster within past 10 years
  • Hepatitis B - Three vaccines or titer (series will take 3-6 months to complete)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox) - Two vaccines or titer (History of disease will not be accepted)
  • Influenza - Current proof of immunization (declination may inhibit ability to place for clinical rotation)
  • COVID (declination may inhibit ability to place for clinical rotation) 

A titer may be used to prove immunity to disease and can be requested from your health professional.
