From submitting your application to admission to registration, Northwood Tech is available to help guide you through the admissions process. To help you successfully complete this program, Northwood Tech has developed a set of program requirements and technical standards. For students with a disability, reasonable accommodations are available to help you be successful in the program of your choice.
Admission Requirements
- Complete Northwood Tech Online application form
- Submit a copy of Confirmation of Acceptance from MATC to Northwood Tech Student Services
- Complete an admissions application to Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Funeral Services program to receive this confirmation.
- Review and sign the Academic Partnership with Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Disclosure Statement
- Complete admissions meeting with a Northwood Tech counselor
Program-Specific Requirements
- Prior to being admitted to the MATC Funeral Service program:
- Successfully complete or enroll in all required courses as documented on the Required Courses Document: Funeral Service Curriculum | Northwood Technical College. Please note grade requirements.
- Enroll, complete and obtain the Funeral Director’s Apprentice license through MATC. Wisconsin Licensed Funeral Director’s Apprentice Course | MATC
- Secure funeral service field experience site.
- NOTE: Please work directly with the MATC Program Director if assistance is needed to secure a site.
- Complete MATC’s admission process
- Prior to first term at MATC: Successfully complete all required coursework at Northwood Tech
- NOTE: Required travel to MATC during second year of program
Technical Standards
In this program, students should be able to meet specific technical standards, which are essential skills and abilities needed to be successful in this program, with or without reasonable accommodations. It is important to review and understand these standards before applying to the program. Please note that this document is only relevant while enrolled in general education and business coursework at Northwood Technical College. Please consult with the Funeral Services Program Director for the specific technical standards required during your enrollment at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
Technology Requirements
If using Macintosh or Linux based computers, coursework must be submitted using your Office365 tools provided with your Northwood Tech email account. It is important to verify with your Program Faculty if non-Windows based computers are acceptable in the program.
