About
The Cybersecurity Center at Northwood Technical College is a resource for information and support with cybersecurity in NW Wisconsin. Resources here will help you learn more about cybersecurity and connect you with information and people in the field. Our goal is to help you learn and protect your information and systems. From all levels, federal, state, county, local and personal we all play a part in cyber security. Continued training and awareness are key to keeping our resources protected. Cybersecurity impacts everyone from: a person’s identity theft, to ransomware in a business, to health and banking records, and automation of equipment and critical infrastructure.
IT Cybersecurity Specialist Program
The IT-Cybersecurity Specialist program will give students hands-on experience with networking, operation systems, virtualization and security. Students will build a strong IT base as they install and configure Windows and Linux environments and create networks for a business-like environment. Students will study attacks and security practices to protect data as they configure security settings, test and monitor configurations. Students will configure and test routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, workstations and servers using vendor tools and open source resources.

Advisory Committee
All approved occupational programs offered at Northwood Tech have an advisory committee. When a Northwood Tech program is offered at more than one campus, a collegewide advisory committee may be established to provide a unified program direction. An additional committee may be formed on each campus to address issues specific to that region.
Educational support services and projects offered through Northwood Tech also work with advisory committees for input and quality assurance.
Advisory committee members provide the occupational experience needed to guide Northwood Tech in selecting and purchasing up-to-date equipment and course materials. They also offer recommendations to improve instructional methods and develop technical guidance programs.
Advisory committees are formed to provide assistance, make recommendations, and in general support high quality occupational education and/or service. Advisory committees do not make school policy or supersede the legal responsibilities vested in the College and the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.
