Blazing Their Trail: Cassandra Gulich | Veterinary Technician
October 14, 2025
Cassandra Gulich’s journey in higher education didn’t begin at Northwood Tech. She started at a four-year institution but was ready for a change. “I took way too many credits in my last two semesters…I felt burned out and constantly tired. I learned a lot about myself during that time.”
After transferring to Northwood Tech, she immediately felt a difference in the atmosphere. “I am most proud of ‘coming out of my shell.’ I was never a shy person, and I still wouldn't consider myself shy. But…I found it really difficult to connect to others who had the same interests as me. Here, I can interact with my classmates and get to know them. I enjoy how personable the professors and staff are. I'm always greeted at the door and feel valued as a student! Also, I love having smaller class sizes, which allows me to communicate with my professors without feeling like I have to take too much time out of my schedule.”

Cassandra Gulich, a student in Northwood Technical College’s Veterinary Technician program, spends time with her horse.
She already found a job she loves, combining her passion for animals and interest in healthcare and education. “I work at a clinic and love my job. I enjoy seeing the pets and interacting with their owners. Also, from previous jobs I've found that I enjoy teaching and educating others. I never really considered it, but a huge responsibility as a Vet Tech is to educate the client.”
Cassandra looks forward to growing in her career and continuing her work with animals and their people. “I've always wanted to challenge myself and push my boundaries. When I'm officially in the field, I feel as if I can further hone my skills and enjoy my time while working…all my life, my grandparents have stressed about ‘find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life,’ and in my short time in school and clinical setting, I've truly felt I've never ‘worked a day in my life’."
Cassandra took advantage of one of Northwood Tech’s many transfer agreements and is set to graduate in spring 2027.
