Biography
Barb Beeksma brings 34 years of experience in multiple facets of the healthcare industry to Northwood Tech. Her varied experience includes: working as an LPN in a nursing home and hospice, assisting a dermatologist and multiple physicians and in an outpatient oral surgeon office. Barb has also been the Ashland County Coroner for more than 13 years, and she is now the Certified Death Investigator. She was so passionate about her work that Barb decided she wanted to bring her experience to the classroom to share with students.
According to Barb, the opportunities for Medical Assistants are vast. Nationally, Medical Assistants are in high demand and pay scales are rising. Barb’s teaching philosophy is to prepare each student to be the best professional in the workplace, which she feels is currently lacking in today’s world. To achieve this, Barb provides hands-on training and real-world experiences for students with small class sizes for one-on-one training to ensure students feel that they are being individually taken care of and taught.
